Lascek's Two Goals Power Johnstown's Victory

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Wheeling Nailers by a score of 4-3 in overtime at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia on Saturday.

Wheeling drew first blood, scoring at the 13:43 mark of the first period when Paul Bissonette fired a wrist shot through traffic, beating Morgan Cey and giving the Nailers a 1-0 lead.

The Chiefs would even the score at 19:29 of the second, when Grant Jacobsen made a wraparound move that beat Wheeling goaltender Danny Taylor along the ice.

Johsntown would take the lead in the third period as Stanislav Lascek took a pass from Gus Katsuras and fired a wrist shot that beat Taylor on the stick side at 4:47 of the third. The Nailers tied it up at 16:04, when Joe Guenther banged a rebound past Cey with the Nailers on the power play. The Chiefs would take a 3-2 lead at 19:20 of the third period as Ben Wallace scored with a blast from the point, but the Nailers would get an extra-attacker goal from Joe Guenther to tie the game at three-apiece.

Stanislav Lascek would win it in overtime for Johnstown, ripping a one-timer past Taylor at the 2:13 mark of the extra session.

The Chiefs were 1-for-4 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 44 saves to earn the win.
