Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Chris McGuiness' two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 9th gave the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-43) an 8-7 win in walk off fashion over the Buffalo Bisons (32-35) on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park.

RHP J.C. Gutierrez (1.0 IP, H, K) earned the win for the Pigs to even his record at 1-1 on the year.

RHP Bobby Korecky (0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, BB, K) took the loss for the Bisons and drops to 2-3 on the season.

Jonathan Diaz gave the Bisons a 2-0 lead with a two-run shot in the top of the second off of Pigs starter Adam Morgan. It was the first home run of the season for Diaz.

The Pigs got a run back in the home half of the same frame as Cord Phelps (3-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) got aboard with a one-out single, moved to third on a single and scored on Gabriel Lino's (2-3, RBI) sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.

Morgan (n/d) allowed two runs on three hits while walking one over two innings of work.

Buffalo extended the lead to 3-1 with a run in the third as they loaded the bases with one out before Daric Barton plated a run with a sac fly.

The IronPigs took a 4-3 lead with three runs in the home half of the fourth. Phelps tied the game at three with a two-run blast off of Bisons starter Randy Wolf. It was Phelps' third home run of the season. A Chase d'Arnaud sac fly scored McGuiness (3-5, 2 RBI, R) and gave the Pigs the lead later in the inning.

Wolf (n/d) surrendered four runs on nine hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings of work.

RHP Chris Leroux allowed a run on two hits while walking three and striking out three over four innings of work in relief of Morgan.

In the top of the seventh, the Bisons tied the game at four apiece with a run against LHP Cesar Jimenez (1.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, BB, 2 K) as Diaz reached on a force out with one out, moved to second on a single and scored on Matt Hague's RBI single.

With two on and one out in the home half of the same frame, Darin Ruf delivered a two-run double which gave the IronPigs a 6-4 lead for the time being.

Buffalo took the lead for the time being in a three-run eighth to open up a 7-6 advantage. Trailing 6-5 with the bases loaded and one out in the inning, Steve Tolleson grounded to third on what was a potential 5-4-3 double play that would have ended the inning, but a throwing error by Pigs 2B Tyler Henson allowed two runs runs to score on the play. Josh Thole also delivered an RBI single in the inning for the visitors.

The series wraps up on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP Aaron Nola (7-3, 1.88 in AA) makes his eagerly awaited Triple-A debut for the IronPigs against Bisons LHP Daniel Norris (1-5, 3.45).
