Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, ME - John McFarland scored a goal and an assist, while Connor Brickley chipped with a pair of assists to lead the Portland Pirates (5-6-0-0) past the Hartford Wolf Pack (6-8-1-0) by a score of 3-2 on Friday night at Cross Insurance Arena. The win propelled Portland to a sweep of a two-game home series over Hartford this week. Mike McKenna picked up his 55th win in a Pirates uniform, tying him with Maxime Ouellet for third most goaltending wins in franchise history.

McFarland notched the first goal of the night, and his second in as many games, on a partial breakaway down the left wing, beating Wolf Pack goalie MacKenzie Skapski between the legs for his fourth goal of the season. Rob Schremp and Brickley picked up the assists at 17:09 of the first period.

Sena Acolatse doubled the lead with his second goal of the season just 1:01 into the second period on assists from McFarland and Brickley.

Adam Tambellini put Hartford on the board, scoring his fifth goal of the season at 5:19 of the second. Marek Hrivik and former Pirate Chris Summers got the helpers.

Portland regained its two-goal margin as Logan Shaw one-timed a Brett Olson feed past Skapski at 10:07 of the second. Shane Harper also notched an assist.

Ryan Bourque would pull the Pack to within a goal again at 9:05 of the third period, banking a shot off of McKenna stick and into the net. Chad Nehring got the only assist on Bourque's second tally of the season.

But, McKenna made the score stand up as he would stave off Hartford's charge in the closing minutes. McKenna made 23 saves to improve to 4-4-0 on the season. Skapski fell to 0-1-0 and made 25 saves in the defeat.

Portland went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Hartford was 0-for-3.
