Providence Bruins News Release
PROVIDENCE, R. I. - A slow first period put Providence in a hole that they couldn't manage to climb out of. Despite outshooting the Devils 23-15, Albany extended the P-Bruins' five game losing streak with the 4-2 victory.
It was a sluggish start for the P-Bruins, skating away from the first period down 2 goals and trailing in shots 7-4. Blandisi scored the first goal for the Devils, assisted by Helgeson and Mozik 11:42 into the first. Albany struck again three minutes later on the power play with Ben Sexton in the box for tripping. Pietila knocked home a rebound while posted up on the doorstep of Zane McIntyre. Mozik and Burlon were credited with the helpers. Providence went 0 for 2 on the power play in the first 20 minutes.
Even with Albany scoring in the 12th minute of the period - their second power play goal of the game - the P-Bruins found their stride in the second period, out shooting the Devils 8-2. Brett Bellemore found twine 17:44 into the period when he tipped an Arnesson shot from the blue line, Czarnik also credited with a helper. This marked Bellemore's first goal as a Providence Bruin.
Once again, Albany got the scoring going in the third. Boucher notched his second of the night, 1:57 into the period. Noel Acciari responded with a power play goal at 4:41. Matt Irwin controlled the puck at the blue line and dished it to Chris Casto who snapped a shot on net. Acciari fought for space in front of the net and put the rebound past Danis.
Acciari's goal was the last of the night, and despite numerous close chances the P-Bruins could not overcome their slow start.
Providence plays again at home again this Sunday November 15th against the Portland Pirates.
