
Capitals Re-Assign Brown and Stephenson to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned right wing Chris Brown (conditioning purposes) and center Chandler Stephenson to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.
Brown, 24, has earned three points (two goals, one assist) in 22 career NHL games with Washington and Arizona. The 6'2", 215-pound right wing appeared in five games with the Capitals last season and scored a goal on Oct. 16 against New Jersey. Brown scored his first NHL goal on March 22, 2014, at San Jose and earned his first NHL assist on March 25, 2014, at Los Angeles. Washington acquired Brown with Rostislav Klesla and a fourth-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft from Phoenix for Martin Erat and John Mitchell on March 4, 2014. The Flower Mound, Texas, native registered 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) and 70 penalty minutes in 64 games with Hershey (AHL) last season. He recorded six multi-point games in 2014-15 and earned three points (one goal, two assists) on Dec. 13 against Binghamton. In 195 career AHL games with Hershey and Portland, Brown has recorded 115 points (62 goals, 53 assists) and 238 penalty minutes.
Stephenson, 21, played in nine games with the Capitals this season and made his NHL debut on Oct. 15 vs. Chicago. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native registered an assist on Oct. 10 in Hershey's 2015-16 season-opener against Springfield and has earned 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 57 career AHL games with the Hershey Bears. Last season, Stephenson registered 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 54 games with Hershey and led the Bears in shorthanded goals (2). The 6'0", 202-pound forward made his professional debut with the Bears on April 16, 2014, at Norfolk and scored his first career AHL goal on his first shot in the first period. Stephenson skated in 230 games with Regina (WHL) from 2010-14, recording 195 points (73 goals, 122 assists). He was drafted by the Capitals in the third round, 77th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
