INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks beat the Colorado Eagles, 6-1, Friday night at Independence Events Center in front of another sold out crowd of 5,800 fans. Mavericks' forward Jordan Foreman tied a team record with four points on a goal and three assists, and a total of five Mavericks had multiple points in the game. Forward Jeff Christian tallied a pair of assists in his return to the team after tending to his daughter who is currently at St Jude's hospital in Memphis. Mavericks' goaltender Charlie Effinger stopped 31 of 32 shots and improved his record to 8-1-0 with Missouri. The Mavericks (29-24-4) moved into fourth place in the Northern Conference with the win and sit just one point ahead of the Mississippi RiverKings.

Missouri took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tom Maldonado just 1:16 into the first period. He took a feed from Foreman and snapped a shot that beat Eagles' netminder Mike Mole near side. It proved to be the only goal of the first period, and the Mavericks killed all three of the Eagles' power play chances to stay in the lead.

Jim Jackson tied the game at the 9:09 mark of the second period on a power play goal when his shot from the point got through a screen and beat Effinger high to the stick side. The Mavericks answered with a power play goal of their own when Toby Lafrance put in a rebound at 18:45 of the second. It proved to be the game-winning goal however the Mavericks weren't finished.

Missouri put up four goals in the third period tying a team record for markers in a period. At 4:02, Carlyle Lewis wristed a shot from the top of the slot that bounced off a defenseman and Braden Walls was there to put in the loose puck making the score 3-1. Nick Sirota scored his seventh goal in six games against the Eagles just over a minute later on assists from Christian and Foreman. The Mavericks took a 5-1 lead on Foreman's breakaway goal at the 14:25 mark. The goal marked Foreman's fourth point of the game also tying a team record. Lewis ended the scoring at the 16:28 mark when he took a couple whacks at the puck from in front of the net burying his second chance.

The Mavericks moved into fourth place in the Northern Conference with the win as both the Mississippi RiverKings and Tulsa Oilers lost their respective games. Missouri stands one point ahead of the RiverKings and four points ahead of the Oilers; the two teams Missouri will face in the next two days.

The Mavericks travel to Tulsa Saturday before returning to Independence Events Center on Sunday to take on Mississippi. It is the only Sunday home game this season for Missouri and the game will be televised on Metro Sports.
