Groenestege shuts out Amarillo

Prescott Valley, AZ - Arizona netminder Doug Groenestege made 23 saves Friday night, as the Sundogs shutout the Amarillo Gorillas 3-0.

The Gorillas and Sundogs played a scoreless first period, with Arizona out shooting Amarillo 15 to 12. Amarillo 0 Arizona 0 after one period of play.

After sensational goaltending from each net, Arizona scored first with less than six minutes to go in frame. Forward Torren Delforte's shot from the far point hit forward Kevin Jarmen and bounced past Gorillas goaltender Mike Brown for his ninth tally on the year. After two periods of action, Arizona 1 Amarillo 0.

Arizona tacked on the insurance goal at the 3:15 mark in the third, giving Arizona the 2-0 lead. Despite Amarillo's flurry toward the end of the game, Arizona added an empty net goal and won 3-0.

The Gorillas conclude road trip tomorrow night (March 6th) against the Arizona Sundogs. The game broadcast will start at 7:55pm CST and can be followed on 1440 AM ESPN Radio and CHL-TV.
