INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum announced today a joint partnership to honor the 75th anniversary of the Kansas City Monarchs' 1942 Negro League World Series championship. The festivities will take place on February 17 and 18.

"We could not be more excited to partner with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in honoring the Kansas City Monarchs' 1942 championship," said Mavericks owner Lamar Hunt Jr. "The Monarchs and the Negro League Baseball Museum are iconic representatives of Kansas City's sports culture, and it is essential to recognize their importance in shaping and influencing how our city enjoys sports. Our goal is to shine a bright spotlight on them and raise as much awareness as possible through this partnership."

The highlight of the weekend will be the Kansas City Monarchs-themed jerseys that the Mavericks will wear for one night only on February 18 when they take on the Quad City Mallards. The jerseys are modeled after uniforms that the Monarchs wore during their 1942 championship season, and feature shoulder patches that represent the partnership between the Mavericks and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

The jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game with proceeds going to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Additionally, Mavericks fans have the opportunity to purchase VIP ticket packages for the February 18 game. The VIP experience features an exclusive pregame reception with representatives from the Mavericks, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and influential players from Kansas City's sports history. The package also includes a t-shirt from Charlie Hustle that commemorates the Monarchs' 1942 championship and admission to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

"On behalf of the staff and everyone at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, I would like to thank the Mavericks for the opportunity to put on an event like this," said Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. "We strive every day to preserve and showcase the history of the Negro Leagues and this unique partnership with the Mavericks will help bring our mission and message to a wonderful audience."

The Mavericks and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will host a weekend kickoff reception on Friday, February 17 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The reception will take place on the museum's Field of Legends and will bring together the Mavericks' players and staff, the staff of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and influential sports figures throughout Kansas City's history.
