Indy Shuffles Roster Ahead of Trip to Quad City

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs announced a series of transactions Thursday. The Fuel received forward Paul Zanette and future considerations from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in exchange for forwards Tristan King and Nick Betz. In a separate move, Indy traded for defenseman Adam Phillips from the Norfolk Admirals in return for future considerations. Finally, defenseman Nick Mattson was reassigned to the Fuel by the IceHogs. Indy begins a three-game weekend Friday at iWireless Center against the Quad City Mallards.

Zanette, 28, was tied for fourth in Swamp Rabbits scoring with nine goals and 11 assists over 33 games played this season. The sixth-year professional has spent the last four seasons in Europe, with stops in Austria, the United Kingdom and his native Italy. In 74 games with Asiago from 2012-2014, Zanette tallied 34 goals and 48 assists en route to a league championship and an Italian Supercup title. The former Niagara University forward has also appeared in 20 career AHL contests split between Rockford and the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Phillips, 26, has tallied one goal and four assists in 19 games with Norfolk in 2016-17. The towering 6-foot-6, 194-pound defenseman is in his third ECHL season, logging 48 points (18g, 30a) over the past two seasons with the Kalamazoo Wings and Stockton Thunder. A native of Framington Hills, Mich., Phillips played a season with the USHL's Indiana Ice in 2009-10 before a four-year college career with the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Mattson, 25, returns from his second stint with Rockford in 2016-17 after being recalled on Jan. 2. The defenseman from Chanhassen, Minn. saw his first AHL action of the season, appearing in two games with the IceHogs, recording two penalty minutes and a +2 rating. Mattson has skated in 32 games with the Fuel this year, with his 12 points (1g, 11a) tied for the team league among defenseman. The product of the University of North Dakota and Chicago's sixth-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (No. 180 overall) has tallied two goals and 25 assists in 80 ECHL games with Indy over the past two campaigns.
