Matt Walker Joins Devil Rays

Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release


Battle Creek, MI-The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays announce that pitcher Matt Walker will be joining the team in Dayton. Walker will enter the Southwest Michigan starting rotation and will get the start today in Dayton. Walker was the Tampa Bay's 10th round draft in 2004 out of Central High School in Baton Rouge, LA. Last year Walker played in Rookie-League Princeton and Short-Season A Hudson Valley.

Eddie DeLaCruz has been added the to Devil Rays temporarily inactive list. In 22 games played this season, DeLaCruz had a 5.10 ERA with a 1-2 record. He had 27 strikeouts with 20 walks.

Jason St. Clair has voluntarily retired. St. Clair has been with the Rays since May 24th. He played one game and has been on the temporarily inactive list since then. St. Clair was the Rays' tenth round choice in the 2001 June draft. He has made is rounds in the Devil Rays farm system playing in Princeton in 2001, Charleston and Hudson Valley in 2002, Charleston and Hudson Valley in 2003, Charleston and Bakersfield in 2004, and Visalia in 2005 and 2006.
