DAYTON, OH- The Dayton Dragons, in conjunction with the Dayton Development Coalition, will host the first of two Hometown Heroes Celebration nights at Fifth Third Field on Saturday June 17th, as part of the 7 p.m. game against the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays.

As part of the season-long celebration of the Hometown Heroes program, the DDC will take time to pay tribute to all servicemen and women associated with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

"Many people often talk about athletes and Hollywood stars as their heroes, but the real heroes are those that serve this country each and every day," said Robert Murphy, Dragons team president. "The Dayton Dragons are honored to host these men and women of the military who defend our freedoms both locally and overseas."

Festivities for the American Celebration night will begin with military displays on the Fifth Third Field plaza at 5 p.m. As game time approaches, Lt. General Hudson from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will throw the ceremonial first pitch. Pregame ceremonies continue with the displaying of a giant American flag, releasing of white doves, the honor guard presenting the colors, and sky divers parachuting their way into Fifth Third Field.

Other planned activities for the evening include the singing of the national anthem by a vocalist with the Band of Flight from WPAFB, a "video greeting card" from a deployed WPAFB member to their family, and the singing of God Bless America by SSgt. Amber Grimes.
