Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that goaltender Joel Martin has been loaned to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. Martin practiced with the Senators this morning and will dress as the back-up to starter Jeff Glass tonight as Binghamton hosts the Hershey Bears at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena (7:05 p.m.).

Martin's loan was necessary as Brian Elliott was injured in the Senators' 4-1 loss Wednesday night in Syracuse. It will mark the third time this season that Martin has been loaned to an AHL club. He started the regular season with Binghamton and was loaned to Syracuse in late November, but has yet to appear in an AHL contest in 2007-08.

In 48 games with the Jackals, Martin has posted a record of 26-17-2 with two shutouts and 3.07 goals against average. His 26 wins rank third in the ECHL while his 2,735 minutes played rank second in the league. He is tied for the league lead in shootout wins with five.

In two previous AHL appearances, 2005-06 with Cleveland and last season with Syracuse, Martin is 1-1-0 with a 2.50 goals against average.

The Elmira Jackals also announced today that Brett Pilkington has been activated off of the injured reserved list. Additionally defenseman Luke Fritshaw has been moved from the 3-day to the 7-day injured reserve and that right wing Jim McKenzie has been placed on the 3-day injured reserve. Fritshaw was injured in last Friday's loss in Cincinnati while McKenzie was injured in the second period of Sunday's 3-1 win in Dayton.

The Jackals close out the road portion of their 2007-08 regular season tonight when they visit the Trenton Devils in a 7:30 p.m. face-off at Sovereign Bank Arena. Game night coverage on MAGIC-FM (92.7/97.7) and www.jackalshockey.com begins at 7 p.m. with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Faceoff. The club then returns home for their regular season finale Saturday night at First Arena against the Wheeling Nailers (7:35 p.m.). It will be Fan Appreciation Night with prize giveaways throughout the evening, a pre-game awards ceremony, and the Williams Scion giveaway and the Lake County Motor Sports 4-wheeler giveaway will take place as well. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets including the Gray Street box office, www.ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 722-3711.
