Nailers Welcome Back Darling and Havern

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, have announced today that goaltender Curtis Darling has been returned to the Nailers by the Manchester Monarchs and in a separate move Ned Havern has been reassigned to Wheeling from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Nailers take on the Johnstown Chiefs.

Darling, 24, signed a PTO with the Monarchs, American Hockey League affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, on March 28. The rookie goaltender appeared in two games (47 minutes) and did not allow a goal while making 16 saves. It was his second stint in the AHL this season after appearing in one game (15 minutes) for the Syracuse Crunch on December 12, 2007, where he also did not allow a goal.

With the Nailers this season, Darling is 7-16-1-2 with a 3.63 GAA and a .914 save percentage in 26 games. He began the year with the Reading Royals and was traded to Charlotte before appearing in a game. Overall on the season he is 10-20-1-2 with a GAA of 3.47 and a save percentage of .909.

Havern, 25, returns to Wheeling's lineup for the first time since January 5. In two trips to the Baby Penguins this year, he has accumulated nine points (3g, 6a) in 33 games. With Wheeling he has averaged a point per-game over parts of the last two seasons (64 points, 64 games) and has 24 points (13g, 11a) in 27 games this season.

Originally selected in the ninth round (273rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by Dallas, Havern has appeared in 45 AHL games with four different teams over his three seasons of professional hockey. He has also skated in 134 ECHL games for three different teams.

The Wheeling Nailers finish up their season with a pair of road games, tonight in Johnstown and Saturday in Elmira. Radio broadcasts of both games will be available on the WKWK 97.3FM as well as online at www.wheelingnailers.com.
