Johnstown's Sgroi Suspended Two Games, Fined

Published on April 4, 2008 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that it has suspended Johnstown forward Mike Sgroi for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #872 at Reading on Apr. 2.

Sgroi was assessed three game misconduct penalties at 14:46 of the second period.

Rule 23.3 states: "In regular League games, any player who incurs a total of three (3) game misconduct penalties in the General Category shall be suspended automatically for the next League game of his Team. For each subsequent game misconduct penalty, the automatic suspension shall be increased by one game.

Sgroi had a prior game misconduct penalty so he is subject to an automatic two-game suspension.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Sgroi will miss Johnstown's game against Wheeling (Apr. 4) and at Dayton (Apr. 5).
