Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONT. - Hamilton Bulldogs forwards T.J. Hensick and Daniel Carr each scored in the final five minutes of the third period, but it wasn't enough to get the 'Dogs (24-19-6-0) past the Toronto Marlies (20-18-9-0) in a 4-2 loss on Friday evening at FirstOntario Centre.
Toronto forward Matt Frattin got the scoring started on a partial breakaway at 17:14 of the first period, with an assist from forward Spencer Abbott.
Marlies forward Connor Brown put a wrist shot past Bulldogs goaltender Mike Condon at 9:57 of the second period to give his club a 2-0 lead, with a helper from forward William Nylander.
Brown was credited with his second goal of the night four minutes later on a broken play in front of the 'Dogs net. The 3-0 goal was assisted by forward Ryan Rupert.
Hensick made it a 3-1 game with his 13th goal of the season with 4:57 to go in regulation, with assists from forwards Sven Andrighetto and Gabriel Dumont.
Frattin regained the Marlies' three-goal lead just 91 seconds later to put the game out of reach. His second goal of the night was assisted by forwards Byron Froese and defenceman Viktor Loov.
With under a minute left, Carr notched his team co-leading 14th goal of 2014-15 to make it 4-2, assisted by defenceman Darren Dietz and forward Eric Tangradi.
Condon made 21 saves on 25 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Christopher Gibson stopped 33 of 35 shots faced for the Marlies in the win.
Hamilton went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Toronto was 0-for-2 with a man advantage.
