Syracuse Crunch News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Syracuse Crunch suffered a 2-0 loss against the Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk Scope Friday, Syracuse's second consecutive shutout loss. Winless in four games, the Crunch have fallen out of the conference lead thanks to Manchester defeating Springfield, 4-2.

Both Admirals goals were scored on the power play, the first 1:13 into the game and the second with 1:18 remaining in the second. The Admirals were 2-for-8 on the man advantage and stopped each of the Crunch's six power plays.

Called for too men on the ice 46 seconds into the game, Norfolk snatched the lead with Nick Kerdiles scoring his ninth of the year. Kerdiles began the play by centering from the left wing. As Emerson Etem and Chris Wagener had cracks in front of the net, Kerdiles swopped behind the net and emerged at the right post. He roofed a loose puck over Kristers Gudlevskis' left shoulder for what would be the game-winning goal.

David Broll, making his Crunch debut, later checked Kerdiles in open ice, knocking Kerdiles out of the game. John Kurtz fought Broll later in the first. Mike Angelidis had a one-sided fight with Josh Manson earlier in the period.

Manson earned his measure of revenge with the insurance goal late in the second. Stefan Noesen made a cross-ice pass to Manson in the right-wing circle without a defender between he and the goal. He ripped his third goal of the year before Gudlevskis could slide to his left. William Karlsson had the second assist.

Gudlevskis, who slips to 15-8-1, made 26 saves on 28 shots. Jason LaBarbera stopped the Crunch on eight shots in the first, six in the second and four in the third for an 18-save shutout, his second shutout of the season, improving to 6-8-3.

The Admirals take the lead in the four-game season series four points to three, with the season and all-time series set to conclude Saturday at 7:15 p.m., the last meeting between the Crunch and Admirals before the Anaheim Ducks move their AHL affiliate to San Diego.
