Pirates Get Shut Out by Penguins 3-0

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - The Portland Pirates (25-19-5-1) were shut out 3-0 against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (28-18-2-3) Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

The first goal of the game came after nearly two scoreless periods, when the Penguins found the back of the net at 17:30 in the second frame of action. The power play goal came from Scott Wilson with assists from Conor Sheary and Biddeford, Maine native, Brian Dumoulin.

The third period brought another power play goal from the Penguin's Wilson at 2:41 with assists from Sheary and Dumoulin again, taking the Penguin's lead to 2-0. Minutes later, Penguin's Andrew Ebbett would score the third and final goal of the evening for the Pens at 5:27 with assits from Bryan Rust and Dumoulin.

Pirates goaltender, Mike Lee, who had his first start for the Pirates in over a year, saved twenty of the twenty three shots fired at him. Penguin's rookie goaltender Matt Murray saved all twenty-three shots the Pirates fired off.

The Pirates will head to Hershey, Pennsylvania to spend Valentine's Day, taking on the Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. The Pirates will return home to the Cross Insurance Arena on Tuesday February 17th, for a school vacation game against the Hartford Wolfpack at 7 p.m. For tickets call 207-PIRATES.
