Marlies Sign Syvret to PTO

January 9, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Toronto Marlies News Release


The Toronto Marlies announced Wednesday, that the team has signed defenceman Corey Syvret to a Professional Try-Out (PTO).

Syvret, 23, has appeared in 32 games with the Alaska Aces (ECHL) this season, registering 18 points (1 goal, 17 assists) and 32 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 200-pound native of Millgrove, Ontario is a former sixth round draft pick (181 overall) of the Florida Panthers. Syvret will join the Marlies for their two games in St. John's this coming weekend.

The Marlies return to the ice on Friday night in Newfoundland where they will take on the St. John's IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. NST. Toronto returns home on January 26 when they host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m.
