Marlies Ready for Rematch with Rocket
March 14, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies will host the Laval Rocket for a second straight game on Wednesday night, coming off of a 4-1 win at Air Canada Centre on Monday.
Tonight's game will be back at Ricoh Coliseum, but the Marlies are searching for a similar result.
The two sides know each other well as they have faced each other eight times already this season. Laval won the opening game of the season series but the Marlies have earned seven straight victories since then, outscoring the Rocket 31-9 in that stretch.
One key to the Marlies success against Laval has been strength on special teams. Though the power play has struggled at time this season, the Marlies boast a 26.2% success rate on the man advantage against Laval, while also killing off 93.4% of shorthanded situations.
Chris Mueller leads the Marlies in scoring against Laval, as he has posted nine points (3G, 6A) in eight games played.
Ben Smith is riding a seven-game point streak, putting up three goals and eight assists in that span. He will look to capture his 50th point of the season in tonight's game.
For Laval, Adam Cracknell had the lone goal in Monday's game and continues to lead the Rocket in scoring against Toronto this season. In six games, he's earned four points (2G, 2A).
Puck drop for tonight's game is scheduled for 7:00 and tickets are still available. Fans coming to the game can enter our Insider Seat Upgrade contest for the chance to be moved up to platinum seats.
