March 14, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hartford Wolf Pack News Release
HARTFORD: Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has signed defenseman Simon Denis to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.
Denis comes to the Wolf Pack from the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL, having skated in 49 games this season and chalked up six goals and a team-leading 29 assists for 35 points, along with five penalty minutes. Denis leads Walleye defensemen in points, and his +18 rating is good for a tie for third-best overall on the team.
The 5-10, 185-pound Denis, 26, logged 70 games with Toledo as a rookie last season, and led Walleye defensemen in points and goals, and finished tied for fourth overall on the team in points, with 15-40-55. He was also a team-best +40, which was tops among ECHL first-year pros and good for second overall in the league, and served 29 minutes in penalties. The Burnaby, B.C. native's 55 points ranked fourth among ECHL blueliners. Denis also saw action in three ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2015-16, following the conclusion of his college career at Ferris State University, and posted two assists.
Prior to turning pro, Denis played 141 games over parts of five seasons, one a medical redshirt year, at Ferris State. His career college stats included 15 goals and 45 assists for 60 points, plus 38 penalty minutes.
