San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Antonio Rampage (29-25-9-0) held the San Diego Gulls (31-20-3-1) scoreless in the second and third periods but were unable to land the equalizer as they fell 2-1 on Tuesday at the Valley View Casino Center.
Giovanni Fiore opened the scoring for the Gulls at 2:16 of the first period after Corey Tropp found Fiore open in the slot for an early power-play goal. The Gulls extended their lead in the final 13 seconds of the frame when Sam Carrick forced a Rampage turnover and hit a trailing Nic Kerdiles for his 12th of the season.
Alex Belzile cut the lead to one after Samuel Blais set up the forward for his fifth power-play goal of the season at the 8:31 mark of the middle frame.
The Gulls retained their 2-1 lead throughout the remainder of the contest, holding off San Antonio's extra attacker for the final 88 seconds of regulation.
