Marlies Reach Out With Fifth Community Practice

January 31, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release

A proud member of the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies travel to East York for their fifth community practice in an effort to connect with minor hockey teams throughout the GTA starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2 at the East York Memorial Arena.

A number of minor hockey level players and fans from the East York area will watch as coaches Greg Gilbert, Joe Paterson and Jim Hughes lead the Marlies through a legitimate pro hockey practice. With 15 minutes remaining in the session, the East York Bulldogs will take to the ice and join the entire Marlies team in interactive and challenging drills aimed at helping young players improve their skills. Toronto Marlies Mascot, Duke the Dog and the Toronto Marlies Dance Team will also be in attendance at the event.

The Marlies will leave the ice surface at 8:00 p.m., to participate in a team autograph signing session.

The Marlies look to extend their franchise record home winning streak to eight games this afternoon when they host the Rockford IceHogs - AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks - today at 4:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. Today's game will air live on Rogers TV Cable 10 in Toronto and 63 in Scarborough. Fans can listen to all Toronto Marlies regular season games on THE FAN 590 or fan590.com.
