Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves have signed left wing MIKE HAMILTON, a member of the 2008 Calder Cup Championship team.

The 25-year-old forward appeared in 17 American Hockey League contests with the Houston Aeros this season, collecting five points (G, 4A) and six penalty minutes before being released on Jan. 22. He has also notched six goals and 12 points in 22 ECHL outings with the Las Vegas Wranglers.

HAMILTON made his AHL debut with Chicago last spring, tallying a goal and two penalty minutes in six Calder Cup Playoff games en route to helping the Wolves capture their fourth league title. He also collected six assists, eight points, and 16 penalty minutes in eight Kelly Cup Playoff matchups with the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators prior to being recalled by the Wolves following that team's elimination in the South Division Semifinals.

The Victoria, British Columbia, native, ranked third on Gwinnett with 23 goals and fourth with 50 points while appearing in a league-high 72 games during his professional debut with the Gladiators last season.

Selected by the Atlanta Thrashers with their sixth pick, 175th overall, in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft, HAMILTON spent four seasons at the University of Maine (2003 to 2007), where he racked up 45 assists, 65 points and 208 penalty minutes in 136 outings with the Black Bears.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
