Marlies Continue Homestand with Three Games This Week at Ricoh Coliseum

The Marlies finish their five game homestand on Saturday with a game against the Bulldogs. Toronto will hit the road for seven straight contests beginning next Tuesday night in St. John's.

- The Marlies are currently first in the North Division and third in the Western Conference with a record of 17-12-3-2 for 39 points. Toronto collected three of a possible four points over the weekend against St. John's.

- The Marlies own the league's top ranked home record (9-2-2-1). Their home power play unit ranks sixth in the AHL at 21.5%. Toronto will play 10 straight home contests from February 4 to February 26.

- Ryan Hamilton is on a five-game goal scoring streak, the longest active streak in the AHL which began on Dec. 21 in Rockford. The Marlies captain sits in eighth (tie) in the AHL in goals with 15.

- Mike Zigomanis has notched seven points (one goal, six assists) over his last five games. He leads all Marlie skaters with 29 points. Zigomanis is fourth in the AHL in power play assists and 18 th in points.

- Jerry D'Amigo has collected a point in five of his past six games (three goals, two assists). D'Amigo ranks first on the Marlies with three game-winning goals.

- Ben Scrivens has posted a 7-6-1 record in 14 games. He ranks 12th in the AHL with a 2.37 goals against average.

- The Marlies penalty killing unit ranks first overall in the AHL with an 86.8% success rate. Toronto ranks third (tie) with five shorthanded goals.

- Matt Caruana scored his first goal of the season on Sunday.

- The Marlies are 13-0-0-0 when leading after 40 minutes.

- Defenceman Drew Paris leads all Marlie skaters with a +8 rating.

Last Week:

The Marlies went 1-1-0-1 over their past three games last week. They dropped a 2- 1 decision to the Lake Erie Monsters on Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena.

Ryan Hamilton's power play tally was the lone Marlie goal. Toronto held the Monsters to just 11 shots in the game, including only one in the third period.

On Saturday, the Marlies skated to a 4-3 shootout loss against the St. John's IceCaps. Ryan Hamilton scored twice, with both goals coming on the power play, and Will Acton netted the other Marlie goal. Mike Zigomanis tallied two assists in the loss.

The following day, Toronto handed the IceCaps their first regulation loss on the road. Jerry D'Amigo's goal mid-way through the third period held up to be the game-winner. Hamilton and Matt Caruana scored in the win. Jussi Rynnas made 36 saves for the victory and was named the game's first star.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies host the Syracuse Crunch tonight at Ricoh Coliseum at 7 p.m. The Crunch come into Toronto with a record of 14-13-3- 1 and are 2-0-1-0 over their past three games. The Crunch is led by Kyle Palmieri who is tied for first in the AHL with 19 goals.

Forward Patrick Maroon ranks seventh in the league with 36 points. This is the first meeting between Toronto and Syracuse this season.

Toronto welcomes the AHL's top team, the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday night. The Barons own a record of 22-8-1-3. They have the second best road record of 13-3-0-1. Oklahoma City's power play ranks second in the AHL at 22.2%.

Divisional rivals Hamilton Bulldogs come to Ricoh Coliseum to play the Marlies for the third time this season on Saturday at 3pm. They last met on Boxing Day at Air Canada Centre, with the Bulldogs winning 6-3.

Hamilton has only two regulation losses in their past 10 games.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals rank third in the Atlantic Division with a 13-13-3-3 record. The Royals over the last ten games have a 6-2-1-1 record.

Mark Owuya has posted a 6- 1-2 record with a 2.86 goals against average and a 0.927 save percentage in 10 games.

Their next opponent is Chicago on January 6.
