Jake Allen Returns, Cade Fairchild Recalled

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday that the club has recalled defenseman Cade Fairchild from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen.

Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald has also announced that goaltender Jake Allen has been reassigned to the Rivermen from Team Canada where he had been participating in the Spengler Cup. The team has also released goaltender David McKee from their professional tryout contracts (PTO).

Fairchild, 22, made his NHL debut in the Blues' 2-1 victory in Washington on Nov. 29, 2011. The 5'11, 190-pound defenseman has also appeared in 31 games with Peoria recording 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in addition to leading the AHL overall with a +21 rating.

The Duluth, Minnesota native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fourth round, 96th overall, of the 2007 Entry Draft.

Allen, 21, left the Rivermen on Dec. 26 to compete in the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. He appeared in one game with Team Canada and allowed eight goals in an 8-1 loss to eventual champion HC Davos. With the Rivermen he is 2-8-1 with a 3.74 goals-against average and 0.893 save percentage.

McKee, 28, served as the backup goaltender for four game but did not see any game action. He came to the Rivermen from the Central Hockey League's Quad City Mallards. In 16 appearances this season, the Irving, Tex. native has posted an 8-7-1 record with a 2.91 goals-against average and a 0.903 save-percentage. He has nine games of AHL experience with the Portland Pirates (2006-07) and the Iowa Stars (2007-08). Overall he is 5-4-0 in those games.
