Marlies Continue Eight Game Homestand on Wednesday Against the Hershey Bears

The Marlies have won four of their past five games, including their 6-4 win over the San Antonio Rampage yesterday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. Newly acquired forward Joe Colborne has scored three goals in two games since arriving in Toronto.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies have posted a record of 4-1-0-0 over their past five games. During that span they've out-scored their opponents 20-15.

- Toronto's penalty killing unit has been solid through the first 59 games this season, ranking first in the AHL with an 86.5% success rate. They've allowed only six power play goals over their past 15 games.

- The Marlies 17 road victories currently rank first in the North Division and fourth in the AHL. Toronto has only five more road games on their 2010-11 schedule.

- Joe Colborne made his Marlies debut on Saturday night and recorded a goal and one more in the shootout. On Monday, Colborne was the game's first star, scoring two times in the Marlies 6-4 win.

- Mike Zigomanis has registered six points (one goal, five assists) over his past four games. On Monday, Zigomanis scored the game- winning goal and added two helpers.

Last Week:

The Marlies went 3-1-0-0 last week in their four games, all against division opponents. Including their win yesterday against San Antonio, the Marlies have rattled off four wins over their past five games.

Ben Scrivens backstopped the Marlies to a pair of victories over Manitoba last Tuesday and Wednesday in Winnipeg. Ryan Hamilton netted his first career AHL hat trick in the Marlies 5-3 victory on Wednesday night.

Toronto began their eight game homestand on Friday night, but was defeated 4-3 by the Hamilton Bulldogs.

On Saturday night at Ricoh Coliseum, the Marlies beat the Griffins, 4-3 in a shootout. Joe Colborne scored a goal in his Marlies debut and Greg Scott was the game's first star.

Colborne added two more goals on Monday afternoon in Toronto's 6-4 win over the Rampage. Andrew Engelage won his second straight game, making 33 saves.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies continue their four game week on Wednesday with a matchup against the back-to-back Calder Cup champions, Hershey Bears. It will be the second and final time the two teams meet this season. Toronto won their last meeting 3-2 on November 12. Christian Hanson scored the game-winning goal late in the third period. Jussi Rynnas made 42 saves for the win. The Bears currently rank third in the AHL with 74 points, posting a record of 35-18-1-3.

Toronto hosts the Manitoba Moose for a pair of games this weekend at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday. CBC will broadcast the game live at 1 p.m. on Sunday. After losing to the Moose in their first three meetings, the Marlies have posted two straight wins against the division rivals. Toronto currently trails Manitoba by one point in the North Division standings.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank first in the Atlantic division with a record of 34-13-2-3. Reading won their fourth straight game on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Elmira. The Royals have posted a record of 8-2- 0-0 over their past 10 games.
