Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves have teamed up with the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) for the third annual NIHL Wolves Cup, beginning this Saturday, February 26, at the Inwood Recreation Center in Joliet, Ill. The tournament will continue on Sun., Feb. 27, and conclude the following weekend, Sat., March 5, and Sun., March 6.
The tournament features more than 200 teams in 23 age divisions, ranging from Mites to Midgets (ages four to 18). The top four finishers from each age division will receive a Wolves Cup rink banner and individual player awards. Either the Wolves mascot, Skates, or former Wolves forward Steve Martins will present the banners to the championship teams from the Mites and Squirts divisions.
In addition, the Most Valuable Player from each of the 23 championship teams will be invited onto the ice to accept their team ¬â¢s Wolves Cup trophy during an intermission when the Wolves host the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday, March 19.
¬ÅThe Chicago Wolves have been a respected part of the NIHL family for several years, ¬Â said NIHL President MIKE GLYNN. ¬ÅWhether it is on the ice, in the locker room, or in the classroom, the Chicago Wolves are always there supporting our players and their families. From little things like official Chicago Wolves equipment bag tags, jersey patches, and helmet stickers, to big things like the NIHL/Chicago Wolves Academic Excellence Program - the most comprehensive academic program for hockey athletes in the entire state of Illinois - and the Wolves Cup Championship Tournament - probably the most exciting and, without a doubt, the most memorable yearly tournament in all of youth sports. It ¬â¢s not just a hockey tournament, but a true celebration of our athletes, our teams, and their supporting families. ¬Â
