Bears Sign Orlov to Pro Tryout Contract

HERSHEY - The 2010 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today the club has signed defenseman Dmitri Orlov to a professional tryout contract. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Orlov, 19, was Washington's second round selection (55th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He won a gold medal while skating for Russia at the 2011 World U20 Championships in Buffalo, NY this past January, and has skated this season with Novokuznetsk Metallurg (KHL). Orlov has scored two goals and assisted on 10 others in 45 games this season for Novokuznetsk. He also represented Russia in the 2010 World U20 Championships in Saskatoon, SK. He won a silver medal while playing for Russia in the Under-18 World Championships in 2008-09, and was named one of Russia's top three players in the tournament.

A native of Novokuznetsk, Russia, Orlov is 5-11, 202 lbs, and will join HERSHEY for practice Tuesday at Giant Center.

The BEARS travel to Toronto to play the Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., and will continue a two-game road swing in Cleveland Thursday against the Lake Erie Monsters. HERSHEY returns home to play the Albany Devils Saturday night at Giant Center at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Giant Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
