Marlies Announce 2012-13 Regular Season Schedule

August 17, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release

A proud member of the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies announced Friday, their 76 game 2012-13 regular season schedule, which begins on Saturday, October 13 versus the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, at Ricoh Coliseum at 5:00 p.m.

Weekend games dominate the Marlies home schedule this season as the team will play 29 of their 38 home games on weekend dates. The weekend home game schedule is highlighted by 17 Saturday games. The team will also play 11 home games on Sunday afternoons and one home game on Friday night. Remaining home games are comprised of one game on Monday, one game on Tuesday and seven games on Wednesday. The team's only Monday home game will be played on February 18 (Family Day) at Ricoh Coliseum at 1:00 p.m. against the Houston Aeros.

2012-13 marks the second consecutive year that the Marlies will play a regular season outdoor game. On Sunday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m., the Marlies will take on the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, at Comerica Park in Detroit.

On Wednesday, December 26, the Marlies will host the Hamilton Bulldogs at Air Canada Centre. The Marlies will play their lone game at Air Canada Centre against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Toronto will also play three school day games during the 2012-13 regular season. The team's school day games will be on February 6 vs. Hamilton, March 6 vs. Syracuse and April 3 vs. Lake Erie. Each game will start at 11:00 a.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. The Marlies will also play one road school day game on November 11 at 10:35 a.m. in Oklahoma City.

The Marlies longest homestand runs from February 23 to March 16 and includes 10 straight games on home ice. The 10-game home stretch begins with a contest against Milwaukee and ends with a game against division rival Rochester. The club's longest road trip of the season will take place in November. The road trip starts and finishes with a game against North Division rival Hamilton on October 26 and November 16, respectively. All eight road games during the trip will be played against Western Conference opponents, four of which are games against divisional opponents.

In all, the Marlies take-on 18 of 29 potential opponents. Of the 38 divisional games that the Marlies will play, the team faces its QEW-rival Hamilton a total of 12 times, the most of any 2012-13 opponent (six in each city). The remaining 26 divisional games will consist of 10 games against Rochester (five in each city), and eight games against both Lake Erie and Abbotsford (four in each city). The Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, rejoin the North Division after spending one season in the AHL's West Division.

The Marlies will close out the 2012-13 regular season with back-to-back home games against St. John's.
