NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals today announced that the team will begin the 2012-13 regular season on Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, at Norfolk Scope Arena against the Worcester Sharks. A complete regular season schedule can be found at the new-look norfolkadmirals.com.

"The puck will drop on a new era of Admirals hockey in 56 short days," said Admirals Vice President Joe Gregory. "We look forward to a great new relationship with the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks understand the winning tradition of Admirals hockey. While there will be new faces and names to learn, we are confident that Admirals fans will have the same amount of pride for the team that skates onto the ice at Scope on October 12th as they did when they cheered for the Calder Cup last June."

The Admirals open the season playing six of their first eight games at Scope. There are no stretches of home games or road games exceeding six games. The Admirals have a season-long five-game homestand from March 29th through the home finale on April 6th. They then end the regular season with a season-high six-game road trip beginning April 12th and concluding with the regular season finale on April 21st in Providence.

Norfolk will meet the following teams eight times: Binghamton, Bridgeport, Charlotte, Hershey, Syracuse and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. They will also meet the following teams four times: Adirondack, Albany, Connecticut, Providence, Springfield, St. John's and Worcester.

The Admirals will play two games in NHL arenas during the 2012-13 regular season. On Thursday, December 6th, Norfolk squares off against the Hershey Bears at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, January 6th, the Admirals and Charlotte Checkers meet at PNC Bank Arena in Raleigh, N.C. More details on these games will be released as they get closer.

The monthly schedule breaks down as follows (home/road): October (4/2), November (6/6), December (5/7), January (8/4), February (4/7), March (8/6), April (3/6). The home schedule features 15 Friday games, 14 Saturday games, five Wednesday games and three Tuesday games. As with last season, Friday home games will start at 7:30 p.m. All other home games will begin at 7:15 p.m.
