Penguins Release 2012-13 Regular Season Schedule

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in conjunction with the American Hockey League have announced their 2012-13 regular season schedule. The 14th season of Penguins hockey will commence on the road for the first time since their inaugural season in 1999-2000 as they take on the Binghamton Senators on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:05 PM.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will open its home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7:05 PM versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

For the second straight season, all AHL teams will play a 76-game schedule. The Penguins will face every team in the Eastern Conference, including East Division foes 38 times (19 home/19 road). The Penguins will also skate against the Northeast Division 16 times (eight home/eight road) and the Atlantic Division 18 times (nine home/nine road). Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will battle North Division opponents four times (two home/two road) as the Toronto Marlies return to the Penguins' schedule after a one-year hiatus. The Penguins will meet 16 of 29 AHL opponents.

The schedule features a trio of neutral site games highlighted by the 2013 Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic, where Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will clash against the Hershey Bears on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Hersheypark Stadium. The Penguins will also match-up against the Albany Devils at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on Sunday, Nov. 25 and the Adirondack Phantoms on Friday, Feb. 22 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The Penguins will once again ring in the New Year at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza when they host the Syracuse Crunch on Monday, Dec. 31 for a special 5:05 PM start time.

Twenty-nine of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 38 home games will be played on weekend nights and afternoons. The Penguins will enjoy a season-long five-game homestand from Nov. 7-16, but also take to the road for seven consecutive matches from Mar. 8""20.

All Penguins home games start at 7:05 PM, except on New Year's Eve and Sundays. The puck will drop on Sundays at 5:05 PM on Oct. 21, 4:05 PM on Feb. 17 and 3:05 PM on Apr. 7.

Season tickets for the Penguins' 14th season in the American Hockey League are on sale now, and available by calling 570-208-PENS. Information on individual ticket sales will be released at a later date.
