The Toronto Marlies today announced their television and radio broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2005-06 American Hockey League season. Leafs TV, The Score Television Network and Rogers Sportsnet will be responsible for transmitting 42 games into Toronto area homes commencing this fall. In addition, AM640 Toronto Radio will broadcast a minimum of 31 games beginning with the team's season-opener on Oct. 7 in Rochester, NY.

"We are delighted to deliver AHL hockey to sports fans in Toronto and look forward to a long-term relationship with our inaugural-season broadcast partners," said Chris Gibbs, Director of Business Operations for the Marlies. "Leafs TV, The Score and Rogers Sportsnet are well-established in the Toronto market and we're certain they'll provide top-class coverage of the Marlies throughout the upcoming season."

"Canada has some of the most avid hockey fans in the world, and minor hockey supporters across the country will be able to follow up-and-coming minor league stars on The Score through our broadcasts of Toronto Marlies games," said David Errington, General Manager of The Score Television Network. All 15 of The Score's broadcasts this season will be available on a national level.

"The Leafs' AHL team has always been a key programming component for Leafs TV. Given that the team is now in Toronto, and that interest in the team will grow, we understand how important it is to increase our daily coverage and amount of games," said John Shannon, vice-president, programming and executive-producer of Leafs TV. "We are also thrilled that The Score and AM640 share our vision and passion for the Marlies."

In addition to broadcasting all 82 regular season Maple Leafs games, AM640 Toronto Radio holds the exclusive radio rights to the Marlies and will broadcast a minimum of 31 games this season, beginning with the Oct. 7 game at Rochester. "AM640 Toronto is thrilled to be part of the Marlies team and we are looking forward to an exciting season. Coupled with our full schedule of Maple Leafs games, the Marlies cement our position as the radio station for hockey in Toronto," said Gord Harris, Program Director, AM640 Toronto Radio. In collaboration with B2 Networks, the AHL will be making all games not broadcast on AM640 available at www.torontomarlies.com.

The Toronto Marlies are proud to join the American Hockey League as it celebrates its 70th anniversary season. The 27 team league was founded in 1936 and serves as the primary development league for the NHL. The Marlies host the Syracuse Crunch in their inaugural home-opener at Ricoh Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 pm.
