Maple Leafs Make Roster Moves

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that they have assigned goaltender Mikael Tellqvist to the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League. Tellqvist, 24, has appeared in five games for Toronto this season and has a record of 2-0-2 with a 2.51 goals against average. He made a season-high 29 saves to register his first win of the season October 23 at Phoenix. He also recorded the victory in his next start by stopping 24 of 25 shots November 2 at Carolina.

Tellqvist has played eight career NHL games for Toronto compiling a record of 3-1-2 with a 2.57 goals against average. The native of Sundbyberg, Sweden was Toronto's third choice, 70th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft.

St. John's Maple Leafs goaltender Jamie Hodson has been reassigned to the Greensboro Generals of the ECHL. Hodson has a 3-5-0 record, a 4.46 GAA and a .869 save percentage in 10 appearances this season. Hodson was Toronto's third choice, 69th overall in the 1998 Entry Draft.

The Maple Leafs play the Cleveland Barons tonight and Friday at Gund Arena. Each game will be broadcast LIVE at 8:30pm (NT) on Radio NL (930AM) and www.sjmapleleafs.ca.
