Simon Gamache, one of the top young prospects in the American Hockey League, headlined a four-player trade between the Atlanta Thrashers and the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old Gamache, who scored 35 goals and registered 77 points in a breakout 2002-03 season for the Chicago Wolves, and defenseman Kirill Safronov, a 1999 first-round draft pick, head to the Nashville organization in exchange for defenseman Tomas Kloucek and forward Ben Simon.

Safronov (2002), Simon (2002) and Kloucek (2000) are all former Calder Cup champions.

This season, Gamache had 11 points in 16 games with the Wolves, and also recorded an assist in two NHL contests with Atlanta. Safronov, 22, had a goal and four assists in 21 matches with Chicago this season. He has 35 NHL games on his career resume with Atlanta and Phoenix. Both players have been assigned to the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.

Kloucek, 23, has appeared in 103 career NHL games with Nashville and the N.Y. Rangers and was a member of the AHL's All-Rookie Team in 1999-2000. Simon, 25, returns to the Thrashers organization, where he spent three seasons before signing as a free agent with the Predators in July. Simon had four points in 18 games for Milwaukee this year. Both Kloucek and Simon are reporting to Atlanta.

Gamache and Safronov get an immediate chance to pay dividends when Milwaukee hosts Chicago on Wednesday night.
