Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, Kentucky - Kyle Mazardo and Logan Driscoll each belted two-run homers to help the Bowling Green Hot Rods (27-17) win the final game against the Brooklyn Cyclones (19-23), 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark. Bowling Green has a day off on Monday before traveling to Rome, Georgia to begin a six-game set against the Rome Braves on Tuesday.
BG struck first in the bottom of the second with a small two-out rally. Garrett Hiott drew a walk and stole second with Driscoll at the plate. Driscoll promptly drove him in with a double down the left field line to make it 1-0. A pair of Cyclones homers gave Brooklyn a 2-1 lead in the third, but Manzardo struck back in the home half, blasting a two-run homer over the left field wall to give BG the lead back at 3-2. Another Cyclones homer tied it at 3-3 in the top of the fifth until BG took the lead back in the following frame.
Osleivis Basabe led off the fifth with a single, and he stole second before Tanner Murray moved him to third with a base hit. Manzardo plated Basabe on a sacrifice fly to right to give Bowling Green the lead at 4-3. Driscoll extended the Hot Rods lead with a two-run homer over the right field wall in the sixth that made it 6-3 Hot Rods, who went on to win by the same score.
