Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Behind Anthony Seigler's heroics, the Hudson Valley Renegades topped the Rome Braves 2-1 on Sunday and salvaged a series split.
Seigler blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth off Rome starter Luis De Avila (1-3). In the top of the ninth, with the two on, two out, and a one-run lead, he picked off Cody Milligan at first to secure the victory.
The performance provided the margin for excellent Renegades pitching. T.J. Sikkema fired 2.2 innings of shutout ball, allowing only one hit, striking out three and walking one. Wellington Diaz struck out the lone batter he faced to end the third.
Josue Panacual earned the win in his Hudson Valley debut, tossing 4.1 shutout innings, allowing only two hits, walking three and striking out two. Panacual was promoted from Single-A Tampa earlier in the day.
Carlos Gomez shut the door for his first Renegades save, recording the final six outs of the game. The right-hander allowed one run on three hits, walking one and striking out one.
Hudson Valley will enjoy an off day tomorrow before hitting the road for a six-game series with the Aberdeen Ironbirds. First pitch on Tuesday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 6:45.
