Mallards Lose Close Pitching Duel against Rafters.
July 30, 2021 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release
A strong pitching performance from the Wisconsin Rafters left the Mallards scoreless.
Wisconsin Rapids, WI - The Rafters jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when EJ Exposito hit a three-run home run. From then on, both team's pitching dominated with the Mallards pitchers only allowing 4 hits the entire game.
Despite strong pitching performances from Terrell Hudson and Ryan O'Hara, the Madison Mallards were unable to score any runs as they left 9 runners on base and lost 3-0 to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
18-year-old Liam Moreno had his Northwoods League debut tonight playing third base for the Mallards. Moreno joins the Mallards just weeks after winning the WIAA Division 1 State Championship with Sun Prairie high school. Moreno had quite a start earning two hits in his first two Northwoods league at bats as well as making an all-star defensive play at third on the first ball hit his direction. Moreno finished the night 3 for 4 with three base hits.
The Mallards travel to Green Bay tomorrow to face to Booyah for a two-game series. Then the Mallards will be back at the Duck Pond August 2nd to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks.
