Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - If you are looking for a great place to start your extended Fourth of July weekend then you should look no further than Peoples Natural Gas Field for the third annual Ballpark Blockparty presented by the Altoona Mirror and Forever Broadcasting. This year's Blockparty will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The family-friendly event is a great way to get your weekend off on the right foot with live music; plenty of kids activities and of course some patriotic fireworks.
Festivities and fun will begin at 5 p.m. when gates open at the ballpark with the live bands following shortly thereafter. A special event Happy Hour will take place from 5-7 p.m. with $2 16oz. domestic drafts on special at our concession stands.
We've got all your musical genres covered at this year's event as bands scheduled to appear at this year's Blockparty are local acts White Shadow/The Beatlemaniacs, Shallow9, The Good Seeds and Pistol Peg & the Beer Kegs. Music will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. and last until 9:30 p.m. and give way to the fireworks display that will wrap up the event.
White Shadow is a Beatles cover band while also specializing in music from the 50s, 60s and the 70s while Shallow9 is a dynamic and powerful female-fronted rock/pop group that has been touring the mid-Atlantic region for the past several years putting out high-energy shows. The Good Seeds will bring some of their own original music to the fold on Tuesday night while also covering some of your favorite Johnny Cash, CCR and Nirvana tunes. For the country fans in the area, Pistol Peg & the Beer Kegs will have you covered with covers of some of country's hottest hits from yesterday and today.
Kids in attendance at the Blockparty can have their fun with a slew of different activities ranging from the inflatables in the Galliker's Fun Zone to our new Kids' Zone games. Our arcade will also be open during the event or kids can choose to go hang out in the Tuna Shack and see what it's like to be everyone's favorite mascot, Al Tuna. Families can also head down to the field and grab a catch during the event and they should also be on the lookout for post-event kids running around the bases at the conclusion of the fireworks show.
Tickets for the event are $6 for adults while children 12 & under are $4. Those children that are members of the Galliker's Curve Kids' Club can get kids' tickets for $2 while Curve season-ticket holders can get into the event for free. Fans can purchase tickets for the Blockparty by calling 877.99.CURVE or by stopping by the box offices at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
