Durham Bulls News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Bulls left fielder Bligh Madris mashed a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning after Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow tossed two perfect innings as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment in Durham's 4-2 series-winning victory over the Gwinnett Stripers on Sunday afternoon at Coolray Field. The win combined with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's loss to Worcester extends the Bulls' first place lead to one and a half games with nine regular season contests remaining.
Entering the top of the eighth trailing 2-0, 3B Brett Wisely smacked a double and 2B Miles Mastrobuoni walked. With two outs, Madris came up and belted his go-ahead three-run blast to right to put Durham up 3-2. Mastrobuoni would smash an RBI single in the following frame for an insurance run. Gwinnett scored first with single tallies in the fifth and sixth frames before Madris' heroics.
DH Josh Lowe led all Bulls batters with three hits, with Mastrobuoni and C David Rodriguez adding multi-hit efforts of their own. Madris' home run came in his first game with Durham since being claimed by Tampa Bay off waivers from Pittsburgh on September 16 and optioned to the Bulls.
Glasnow (2.0 IP, 4 SO) was dominant in his two innings pitched, fanning four of the six batters he faced as part of his MLB Rehab Assignment. Southpaw Angel Perdomo (1.0 IP, H, BB, 2 SO) earned the victory, while righty Dusten Knight notched his team-leading 12th save. Gwinnett reliever Ryan Webb (1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 2 SO) suffered the defeat.
Following a Monday off day, the Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park to begin their final homestand of the 2022 campaign, facing off against the Baltimore Orioles' Triple-A affiliate Norfolk Tides. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 6:35pm.
Tickets for all six of those contests are still available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
