
IronPigs heading home with series loss

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (73-67) lost 12-2 to the Rochester Red Wings (64-77) on Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field. The IronPigs dropped five out of the six games played against the Red Wings. The IronPigs gave up a season-high 22 hits against the Red Wings.
The Red Wings scored four runs against Jack Perkins (0-2) in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. Lucius Fox hit an RBI double that scored Andrew Stevenson. Jake Alu followed with a three-run home run - his 10th home run of the season. Rochester scored two runs against Bubby Rossman in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. Onix Vega and Wilmer Perez each hit RBI singles.
Lehigh Valley scored a run against Patrick Murphy (3-3) in the top of the fourth inning to cut Rochester's lead to 6-1. Dustin Peterson scored on an RBI groundout by Johan Camargo. Rochester scored three runs against Vinny Nittoli in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 9-1. Jack Dunn, Vega, and Perez each had RBI singles in the inning.
Two more runs were added by Rochester against Francisco Morales in the bottom of seventh inning as they would take an 11-1 lead. Fox scored on an RBI groundout by Alu, and Nick Banks hit an RBI single. Perez homered against Griff McGarry in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Red Wings an 12-1 lead. The home run for Perez was his first of the season.
Jorge Bonifacio homered against Francisco Perez in the top of the ninth inning to make it a 12-2 game. The home run for Bonifacio was his 13th of the season.
The IronPigs will play their final home series of the season beginning on Tuesday evening against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
