Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
NASHVILLE - Ray-Patrick Didder homered, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp blew a three-run lead on Sunday to drop their series finale 8-5 with the Nashville Sounds from First Horizon Park.
After Didder's fourth-inning home run put Jacksonville (75-65) ahead 4-1, Jumbo Shrimp starter Jeff Lindgren (3-3) walked Jon Singleton to begin the bottom of the fourth. Cam Devanney followed by bashing a home run to pull Nashville (85-55) within one. Three batters later, Weston Wilson tied the game with a solo shot.
The Sounds mounted a two-out rally to take the lead in the fifth. Esteury Ruiz doubled with two down and stole third before scoring on Singleton's base hit to give Nashville its first lead.
With the score still 5-4, Jonathan Davis led off the seventh with a double. Ruiz singled him in to extend the advantage to 6-4. After a Singleton base knock, Devanney collected an RBI single. Later in the inning, a wild pitch brought in a third Sounds run to get things to 8-4.
Troy Johnston led off the eighth inning with a double before moving to third on a wild pitch. After a walk, Johnston scored on a double play, but the Jumbo Shrimp could get no further than 8-5 in their loss, dropping the series four out of six games.
The top of the order helped Jacksonville break a scoreless tie in the third. Brian Miller singled before Bryson Brigman was hit by a pitch. Jesús Sánchez extended his hitting streak to 11 games and Willians Astudillo doubled in two to make it 3-0.
In the bottom of the third, Wilson singled to jumpstart the frame. He stole second and advanced to third on an error on the same play before scoring two batters later on a Sal Frelick sacrifice fly to put the Sounds on the board.
Ethan Small (7-6) earned the win with a perfect inning of relief and Hobie Harris picked up his sixth save of the season for Nashville.
Jacksonville returns home Tuesday to host Charlotte in a six-game for their final homestand of the season. On a Community First Credit Union Two For Tuesday, tickets are 2-for-1 at the box office for Community First Credit Union members using their CFCU credit or debit card. On Fan Graffiti Day, fans are invited to graffiti the Hall of Fame tunnel between the home plate and third base gates.
Tuesday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. from 121 Financial Ballpark. Coverage starts at 6:50 p.m. on MiLB.tv, ESPN 690 and ESPN690.com.
