Ottawa Lynx News Release

Scranton's Bobby Scales drove in three runs as the Red Barons jumped to a 4-1 lead and held off a late Lynx rally to defeat Ottawa 4-3 on Monday night. Luis Terrero homered and went 3-for-4 with all three RBI in a losing effort for the Lynx.

The loss drops Ottawa's record to 35-37 on the season.

Player Of The Game: Lynx LF Luis Terrero went 3-for-4 with his third homer in two games and drove in all three Lynx runs..

Game Recap: Ottawa's biggest opponent on this night was Scranton's Bobby Scales. In the first inning Scales drove in a run on a groundout, and he followed that with an RBI double in the top of the third off of Lynx starter Tim Kester to give the Red Barons a 2-0 lead. The Lynx cut the lead in half in the 5th when Luis Terrero hit his third homer in two days and 9th of season. Scranton responded with single runs in the 6th and 7th to increase their lead to three at 4-1. The Lynx would get back into the game in the bottom of the 7th when Fernando Tatis led off with a single and moved to second on Andy Tracy's walk. That set the stage for the hot-hitting Terrero, who blasted a ball off the wall in left center, just inches shy of a game tying homer but good for a two-RBI double to narrow the Red Barons lead to 4-3. Down one run, the Lynx would push to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, getting the tying run to third base with one out and loading the bases with two outs, but Scranton reliever Brian Sanches worked his way out of the jam and retired Eli Whiteside on a ground ball to end the game in a 4-3 Lynx defeat.

Next Game: The Lynx and Red Barons meet in the final game of this four game series on Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
