Charlotte Knights News Release

Fort Mill, SC - The Charlotte Knights and USA Baseball announced today that the 2006 USA Baseball National Team and Team Japan will play Game #5 of the 35th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, South Carolina, on July 29, at 7:15 pm EDT.

Tickets for the game will go on sale on Saturday June 17 at 10 a.m. through the Knights ticket office or online at www.charlotteknights.com. The game will be part of the USA Baseball's Road to the World Championships Summer Tour that includes games at eight Minor League stadiums throughout the Carolinas.

"We are extremely pleased to be able to host the USA Baseball National Team vs the Japanese All-Stars here at Knights Stadium", stated Dan Rajkowski, Charlotte Knights Vice President and General Manager. Rajkowski also stated, "We believe this will be a premier game on the tour and we anticipate a great turnout in support of USA baseball."

The USA Baseball National Team consists of the top collegiate baseball players in the country. Each summer the team plays in a schedule of exhibition games across America and overseas, including the annual five-game USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series. Team USA leads the all-time series between the two countries by a 20-14 margin - having never lost the series on home soil.

The USA Baseball National Team will wrap-up their 2006 season at the FISU World University Baseball Championships in Havana, Cuba, where they will look to defend the Gold Medal they captured at the 2004 event.

"The match-up in Charlotte will be the fifth game of the series with Japan and the final game of the summer before both teams depart for the World Championships," said USA Baseball's Executive Director Paul Seiler. "We expect a lot will be riding on this game, providing for a great match-up on the field."

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body of amateur baseball in the United States and a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). The organization selects and trains the USA Baseball Olympic Team, the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate), the UA Baseball Junior National Team (18-under), and the USA Baseball Youth National Team (16-under) which participate in various international competitions each year.

Fans will also be entertained post game, as after every Saturday night game at Knights Stadium fireworks presented by Time Warner Cable light up the Ft. Mil sky. Tickets for this international contest will range from $6-$12.
