
Bulls make it three straight against Knights

Durham NC - Luis Rivas' two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to broke a 2-2 tie with Charlotte and lead the Bulls to a 4-2 victory over the Knights on Monday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The win gave the Bulls three straight against the division leading Knights, bringing their record to 33-34.
With one out in the eighth inning in a 2-2 game, Sean Burroughs singled to right field, and advanced to third on a double by Brent Butler. Rivas lined a single up the middle to score both runners, although he was caught advancing to second base. RHP Jose Rodriguez recorded his first save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth inning to seal the win.
B.J. Upton stole his International League-leading 29th base in the fifth inning. Brent Butler went 3-4 with a double and a run scored, and five Bulls pitchers combined to allow just two runs on four hits, while walking six and striking out five.
RHP Juan Salas (1-0) got the win for the Bulls, pitching two scoreless innings in relief, with two walks. RHP Jeff Farnsworth (4-1) took the loss for the Knights, going one inning while allowing two runs on three hits.
Prior to this evening's scheduled game, the Bulls and Knights completed their April 22nd game that was suspended due to rain. Durham won the game 2-1 when Sean Burroughs was beaned with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Durham looks to continue their winning ways against the Knights tomorrow, as RHP Jason Hammel (3-5) takes on RHP Sean Tracey (5-3) at 7:00 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are available at the Durham Bulls Box office, by phone at (919) 956-BULL or online at www.durhambulls.com.
