Appleton, WI - The Clinton LumberKings and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers split a doubleheader at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium Wednesday night. Wisconsin took game one, 5-0, behind right-hander Tyler Wagner. Clinton returned the favor in game two as four pitchers combined to limit Wisconsin to five hits.

In game one, Wagner was dominant. He allowed only three hits and two walks while piling up ten strikeouts. In two appearances against Clinton this season, Wagner has yet to allow a run and is has won both games.

Clinton starter Tyler Pike was solid after the first inning but the damage was too much to overcome. The T-'Rats got four against Pike in the opening inning. Mitch Haniger had an RBI single and Chris McFarland brought in a pair with a base hit up the middle to put Wisconsin on top, 4-0.

In game two, Clinton starter Rusty Shellhorn was able to go three innings in his first start of the year. The southpaw left the game with a 2-0 deficit as the bats were cold to start. Guillermo Pimentel got the LumberKings on the board with a run-scoring double in the fifth. Patrick Kivlehan, who doubled with one out, extended his hitting streak to 12 games and scored the first run for Clinton to cut the lead to 2-1.

The comeback continued in the sixth inning when Dario Pizzano launched a double to center. He was followed by Tyler Marlette who laced an RBI triple to the gap in right-center. Marlette had hits in both games, extending his hitting streak to eight games.

With the score tied 2-2, Wisconsin turned to reliever Jono Armold. Gaby Guerrero greeted him with a broken bat single to left field to give Clinton a 3-2 lead. They added an insurance run on a throwing error by third baseman Mike Garza.

Matt Vedo worked two scoreless innings in relief of Shellhorn. He turned the ball over to Oliver Garcia who escaped a jam in the sixth inning. With runners at second and third, Clint Coulter sent a pop up into shallow left field. Pizzano and shortstop Brock Hebert collided and fell to the ground but Hebert held on for the final out of the inning.

Grady Wood worked the ninth and recorded his fifth save in as many chances. The two teams play game three of the series on Thursday. Clinton sends right-hander Matt Anderson (1-2, 6.29) to the mound against Wisconsin right- hander Damien Magnifico (3-0, 4.30). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CT.
