Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING- The Oldsmobile Park magic was back in full force on Thursday night, as the Lansing Lugnuts rallied to a 3-1 comeback victory before 7,415 fans. It is the 22nd win for the Lugnuts at home this season.

Lansing trailed 1-0 with two out in the eigth inning. Anthony Hatch then drew a walk and was followed by a Cory Patton single to right field. After Blake Hendley entered the game to pitch for Dayton, Brian Pettway bounced a ball to the shortstop Mike Griffin, who tried to retire Patton at second. However Patton was ruled safe on the play which loaded the bases for the Lugnuts. David Hicks then doubled to center field over a drawn in outfield, plating all three runners to give Lansing a 3-1 lead.

Dayton scored its only run of the game in the third inning when Josh Holden tripled and scored on a Jay Bruce RBI double to make it a 1-0 game.

Each team received a great effort from its starting pitcher. Aaron Tressler went seven innings for Lansing, scattering six hits and allowing just one run. Dayton's Zach Ward was not to be outdone, as he hurled six frames and surrendered just four hits while keeping the Lugnuts scoreless. Neither pitcher factored in the decision.

Paul Phillips nailed down his tenth save for the Lugnuts by tossing a scoreless ninth.

Lansing (36-23) and Dayton (28-33) will wrap up the four game set on Friday night at Oldsmobile Park. Billy Carnline (5-2, 1.75) will take the bump for the Lugnuts, while Johnny Cueto (5-1, 3.10) will hurl for the Dragons. There will be LAFCU Fireworks following the game. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
