West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Professional baseball instruction returns to Fifth Third Ballpark as the West Michigan Whitecaps team up with Family Fare stores and Hershey to host their annual youth baseball clinics. Scheduled for June 15 - 16 and July 21 - 22, the Whitecaps Youth Baseball Clinics are open to kids ages 8-15 and will be lead by Whitecaps manager and former major leaguer Matt Walbeck.

"It's an opportunity to really learn what baseball is about," said Walbeck. "We host the clinics to help these kids understand the dedication that is required to improve their game."

The Whitecaps Youth Baseball Clinics, sponsored by Family Fare and Hershey, allow kids to learn from Walbeck, Whitecaps pitching coach and former major leaguer A.J. Sager and several current Whitecaps players right on the field at Fifth Third Ballpark - a young baseball player's dream. Hitting, fielding, pitching, base running and mental toughness are just a few of the areas that will be addressed during the two-day clinics. Kids will also learn the proper way to warm up to prevent injury from Whitecaps athletic trainer Jay Pierson.

Each clinic day runs from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and includes lunch and a clinic t-shirt with the $75 registration fee. Space is limited to 80 participants for each clinic. To register stop by Fifth Third Ballpark, call 616-784-4131 or log on to www.whitecapsbaseball.com to register on-line.
