Kernels start eight game home stand on Saturday

Your Cedar Rapids Kernels return home this Saturday, June 10th to face the Fort Wayne Wizards and Beloit Snappers in an eight game, nine day home stand.

The home stand kicks off with a bang as it's Bank of the West Fireworks night. The .rst 500 fans through the gates receive a free hand fan from Bank of the West. The Kernels also welcome fans from Springville for their night at the ballpark. Following the game, there will be a spectacular .reworks show, presented by Bank of the West. Gates open at 6 pm for Saturday's 7 o'clock start.

The Dog Days of August come early on Sunday, June 11th as the Kernels welcome Skyy Dogs USA & Rockin' Ray, presented by KCRG TV-9, The Gazette and The Zone ESPN 1600 AM. Skyy Dogs USA will dazzle you with feats of speed and agility. The Kernels also welcome fans to bring their dogs to the stadium for Bark in the Park. A special 'doggie' ticket is available for $6 with dog ticket proceeds being donated to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Dogs and their owners can also take part in a pre-game parade on the .eld prior to the game. Sunday is also a KDAT Sunday Family Fun Day - get autographs from the Kernels on the concourse from 1:20 until 1:40 pm; enjoy $1 regular popcorn and play catch on the .eld and run the bases after the game, sponsored by Velocity Sports Performance. Gates open at 1 pm with the .rst pitch at 2.

A dollar buys you a feast .t for a home run king, as it's Mix 96.5 Dollar Dog Monday when the Kernels take on the Wizards at 7 pm. Regular hot dogs are $1 all evening long and we'll have a bunch of them ready for you when the gates open at 6 pm.

Sneak away from the of.ce and enjoy a baseball game under the warm sun, as the Kernels take on the Wizards at noon on Tuesday, June 13th. It's Z-102.9 Lunch at the Ballpark - enjoy a regular sandwich, chips or popcorn and soda or beer for just $5 all day long. Bring your wi-. laptop and use the free wireless internet at the ballpark, courtesy of the Kernels and DTI. Gates open at 11 am.

After a day off on Wednesday, the Kernels take on the Beloit Snappers for a four-game series and it will be a 100.7 The Fox Buck-A-Cup Thursday! Get 12 oz. beer or soda for just $1 and bottled water or soda for just $2 all game long. The Kernels take on the Snappers at 7 pm with gates opening at 6 pm.

The Original Purple Party Dude, Reggy, visits Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday June 16th. Reggy's visit is sponsored by KCRG TV-9, The Gazette and The Zone ESPN 1600 AM. The game starts at 7 pm with gates opening at 6 pm. Don't miss out on this party at the ballpark.

Fireworks light up the sky following the game as 98.1 KHAK presents Saturday Fireworks. KHAK also will be hosting their 'Single's Night' at the ballpark - listen to 98.1 KHAK for more details. This is sure to be a big night, so get here early when the gates open at 6 pm. First pitch is scheduled for 7 o'clock.

Make Father's Day extra special by spending it with Dad and the whole family at the ballpark! The Kernels are hosting a special Father's Day Brunch Buffet, from 10 am until 1 pm. Enjoy standard breakfast fare, fresh salads, fresh from the oven breads and assorted desserts. Or, step up to the Omelet Station to have an omelet built just for you, or have a steak grilled to your taste from our Specialty Grill. The costs is $12 for adults; $6 for children 4 to 12; and children under 3 are free.

After brunch, head out to the parking lot to join in on the fun with the Principal Family Fun Fest. This FREE traveling baseball festival will make a stop at Veterans Memorial Stadium for one day only. The fun fest will be set-up right outside the front gates and will start at 11 am. This festival includes more than 20 baseball themed attractions including a minor league baseball museum, the Xbox 360 Home Run Derby video game trailer, and a fan festival midway with batting and pitching cages, bungee runs, a side-by-side giant slide, baseball bounce houses, and lots more interactive fun for baseball fans of all ages. Then, get set for fun as the Kernels take on the Beloit Snappers at 2 pm, as it's KDAT Sunday Family Fun Day. Get autographs from the Kernels players on the concourse from 1:20 until 1:40 pm, enjoy $1 regular popcorn all game long and after the game, the kids can run the bases, thanks to Velocity Sports Performance and St. Luke's Hospital. Fans are also encouraged to head down and play catch on the .eld after the game.
