LANSING, MI - The Lansing Lugnuts (32-22) held the Burlington Bees (38-19) to just four hits en route to a 6-0 win at Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday night. Saturday's game was the first the Burlington offense was shut out in 2011.
The Lugnuts scored one run in the first inning against Burlington RHP Blake Hassebrock (3-2). LF Marcus Knecht (3-4) doubled and went to third base when DH Michael Crouse (1-3) grounded into a double play. 3B Bryson Namba (3-4) singled home Knecht for a 1-0 lead.
Lansing added a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by C Jack Murphy (2-4) and pushed across two runs on a throwing error in the fifth inning. Knecht singled with two outs in the fifth inning and went to second base on a walk to 1B K.C. Hobson (2-3). Crouse reached first base on a single and moved to second base on a throwing error by SS Yordy Cabrera. Both runners scored on the error for a 4-0 lead.
RF Marcus Brisker (0-3) hit a sacrifice fly to center field in the sixth inning to score Pierre for a 5-0 lead.
The Bees and Lugnuts finish their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. RHP Josh Bowman (5-1, 2.77) gets the start for the Bees against RHP Daniel Webb (4-4, 6.43) for the Lugnuts. Pre-game coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on Newsradio 1490 and online on gobees.com.
