
Kernels Put Three on MWL West All-Star Team

Cedar Rapids, IA -- The Midwest League announced the rosters for the 2011 MWL Summer All-Star Classic, scheduled for June 21st at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport, IA, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels had three players selected to the team. The All-Stars were nominated and selected by the field managers of the 16 MWL teams.
Travis Witherspoon was named the starting center fielder for the MWL West team and was the only Kernel selected as a starter. Two Kernels were selected as reserves: LHP Dakota Robinson and LHP Max Russell.
The Peoria Chiefs led the MWL West with three starters and six players overall. The Lansing Lugnuts led the MWL East with three starters as South Bend and Lake County each had six players selected to the MWL East squad.
The 2011 MWL All-Star Summer Classic, hosted by the Quad Cities River Bandits, is June 20th and 21st, with the game played on June 21. Tickets are available by contacting the Quad Cities River Bandits at www.riverbandits.com or by calling (563) 322-6348.
